I have been to On the Border in San Diego, CA/Dublin, CA/Norman, OK and this one. They are all very consistent in service and quality of food. This is Tex-Mex and a much better chain than Chevy's with a great salsa!!! I have been to this one multiple times sitting at the bar and had good service form both of the two different bartenders. I like coming here because I haven't found a great local restaurant yet.

Not bad for a chain Mexican place. Ok Tex-Mex but still pretty good. Lounge was not empty and the service was good. Tomatillo chicken was cooked very well and the drinks were good. Chips were hot and tasty. A bit too salty for me but the salsa fixed that. Service might have been slow if they were busier, but they weren't so it worked out. They started cleaning the place a bit early too, which kind of bugs me.

It took time to get someone to take our order and the wait staff was very loud...I'm sorry but we don't want to hear your business. Was not impressed with the food.

Food was terrible and I'm not just saying because I'm from California. Service was slow and didn't come around very much. Sorry but the worst "Mexican" food in Great Falls.

It's always a gamble to come to a restaurant during the slow late lunch time. I waited for several minutes waiting for someone to notice I had entered the restaurant and needed to be seated. Finally after peeking around the corner, a server saw me and went to get the host. He less than enthusiastically seated me. The server looks like she's the only one on the floor and is a little busy with 3 other tables. It takes her a good 5 minutes to greet me and ask me if I wanted guacamole. What?! How about a glass of water!!! Who randomly offered guac before taking drink orders? Annoyed. The rest of the lunch went ok. She dropped off my check without asking if I wanted anything else. I'm still waiting to get my card back....and haven't even had a chance to ask for a to go box yet. The food was subpar. I love the salsa but the rest was less than average. No wonder most of these restaurants have closed where I live. They can't compete with TexMex! In conclusion, I should have gone to chilis next door.

With Chilis just next door and currently a 5 star Yelp site, we thought we should try OTB. What a disappointment it was ! The hostess looked like someone loaded a 12. Gauge shot gun with the hardware store and shot her face, and the server BWoods was directly behind. So much for appearances... We moved from the table we were seated because the floor was a greazy mess of food, salad dressing, plastic lids from GKW and things too fierce to mention. Ordered the quesadillas for her and the double stacked for me--it arrived on a 16 or 18 inch plate without the guacamole and our server said that they had run out of avocados. Food was huge, mediocre and uninspired. This place will not be in business long and so much the better for those of us who appreciate what Tex-Mex van be. Go to Chilis next door.

My family really enjoyed themselves. The place is clean and inviting. The guacamole made at the table was delicious. I would eat there again and again.

Wow. Finding descent Mexican in Great Falls must be a skill I do not possess. Service was nice but unbelievably slow. Asked for a drink and it didn't arrive until after we finished eating. My food was decent, but the spouse was not impressed. The food took FOREVER to get to us. They said they were sorry but they were "slammed". For a restaurant less than 1/3 full.....not sure what "slammed" means in Montana. Eat pizza in Great Falls!!!

Bartender very attentive and pleasant. Maragaritas are good. Food not so good. Had fish tacos and something was off. Guy next to me thought they were really good but upon leaving he said,"that heedura tequila is good stuff but wouldn't be allowed at home" ...huh? Anyway I like the staff there but prob wouldn't go back there to eat.

food took forever to pay took forever an the service wasn't that great won't ever go there again! an it was expensive we were better off going to Taco Bell!

Well, as a chain it is what I expected. We were sat prompty by the host. Strangely he grabbed a serviette and a fork for the two of us (more on this later), then led us to a booth where the table appeared clean, but the both benches were still mucky from the previous "diners" and their snot - nosed twerps. Our server greeted us quickly, dropping off chips and salsa. They were ok. She up-sold us on happy hour queso which looked bad although it tasted ok. The main menu has a wide selection of Mexican "traditions." We both pted for fajitas. They came out reasonably quick but no sizzle which led me to believe they had sat a bit or just never had any sizzle to begin with(more likely the former). Flavour was good if portions were smallish. Oh ya, and the lack of a knife. The other guests had roll ups which included knives. Maybe I looked like I should not be near sharp objects. Could have asked for knives, but couldn't be bothered. Ate. Paid. Left. Hard to give a great recommendation, as it was just ok.

Worst service I've ever had. I was a trainer at a restaurant for 2 years and I know this is not acceptable service. We had a party of 14 and it took 45 minutes to take our order then another 30 minutes later the server came out and asked what we had cuz he wasn't sure. HE WAS STILL PUTTING THE ORDER IN! Servers were shaking their heads at us and rolling their eyes and acting like we were a hassle. The manager never apologized for the horrible service and we had to go find a host and she asked three different servers to get our refills and then they were rude about it because we were frustrated. 3 hours later and we are still waiting on our checks. The server has come out 4 times now fixing all the checks. We had to write down what we ordered for him.

Only one star because can't do NO star. Service was very slow. They weren't busy and only a party of four. When the food finally came, it was luke warm and looked like it had been under the warming lights for some time. Had to ask for more drinks, that never came. Refries, well no, just partly mashed pintos. Sauces were bland and dried on top?

I wish I could give this place zero stars but the app won't let me. Worst service I've ever had in any restaurant.

We almost didn't stop here because of the reviews but we're glad we did. The bartender was nice. The drink prices for happy hour were great and the food was really tasty. The food took FOREVER but the bartender stayed on top of our drinks and chips and salsa while we waited. I had the carnitas street tacos and they were fabulous.

  • Dustan J.

Walked in and asked the bartender if we just seat ourselves, and with a bad attitude and disdain, said "uh, yeaaah!". The server was friendly and prompt once we got to start ordering. At one point, the server asked the bartender for more chips for our table, and we could hear the bartender becoming angry for having to actually do something that distracted her from texting on her cellphone. The server seemed to be the only person there who was actually present for duty; the rest were just punching a time card and actively dodging responsibility. Go in with your expectations set very low, and then you may not be as disappointed. BTW, this place claims Tex Mex, but I disagree.

Just in the last 3 years since I first went to this restaurant I feel like it's gone downhill a lot. I used to be really impressed with the food and service but not so much anymore. My latest experience was the worst yet. Our waitress was really forgetful. Multiple times she came back for reminders on what we ordered, and then when the food came, she forgot to bring my wife's tortillas and guacamole, plus my sour cream. I know that stuff happens, but it happened a lot for one meal. The food was...decent I guess. My wife's fajitas had so much boiling hot oil in them that she had a couple drops hit her in the face. The lettuce in my side salad was wilted. Really the only redeeming parts of the meal were the salsa and the margaritas. Sad. I used to like this place. Probably won't be back.

I am in the restaurant right now and this is without a doubt one of the worst places I have ever been!!! My husband and I have been here an hour and haven't gotten our food yet!! After ordering and sitting here 30 minutes the waitress came out and said they didn't have tamales which my husband ordered!! Now we have been here another 30 minutes and our waitress just came by and said our food is up next!!! And this is not busy!!! Never again. Also we came in and there may have been 3 tables and they told us it would be 10-15 minute wait seriously there was no one here!!! Trust me do not eat here

Ordered the Ranchiladas. Presentation alone almost made me send it back. Looked like someone barfed on the plate. Reluctantly I dug in and found the steak was delicious! It was a bit rare and bloody but hey...I like it that way anyways! Everything else on my plate was meh. Later at 10:15pm I had it coming out both ends simultaneously. I wanted to die. Ended up losing 15lbs and 3days of work from food poisoning. To this day I can't eat Mexican food.

I usually have a good experience at this restaurant. Though this time I was not pleased. We were seated immediately which was fantastic. Our silverware and napkins were not given to us right away. Our waiter was not very friendly...when I asked about the restrictions on the endless tacos he told me one thing and then when I went to order told me something different. Though he did keep out drinks ok (but didn't ask if we wanted refills on our alcoholic beverages). As we were leaving I asked for a box for our food and he literally only have me one (big) box even though I had to different peoples plates to put in them. When I paid for my bill he asked if I wanted change and I said yes. As I was walking out of the restaurant I noticed him talking bad about me as I turned the corner. Needless to say I will not be returning. The food is not that great and the service was awful.

Not impressed. Walked in to order take out, there were maybe 4 tables with people at them. I was directed to the bar to order. It took about five minutes for anyone to notice I was there at which point I was offered a menu. I placed an order for fajitas, nothing else. After ten minutes I asked politely how much longer the waitress thought the food would be, just to check in since it was a to go order. She said it'd be another 15 minutes and walked away before I could say anything else. Five minutes later another woman finally came to the bar to make a drink for her table so I asked for a water and the complementary chips and salsa, which she gladly got for me. After 35 minutes of waiting I finally received my food. When I got to where I was going, there were no napkins and no silverware to eat the beans or rice. Additionally, there were only three very small tortillas for the huge box of fajita fixings.

This is one of the places we used to like to come to all of the time, but it will be a while before we come back. Even the usually good Salsa was off. My chicken sandwich was just ok but Dave's endless tacos looked as gross as they tasted. Modelo was cold...so we will give them the benefit of the doubt and up it to two stars.

The manager sat us. He seemed nice but he used the " I forgot your crayons" joke 3 times while we were there. Our waitress was rude. It seemed like we were an inconvenience. When we got our food the cheese wasn't even melted. Our daughters food was soaked in grease. It was disgusting. The meat it both mine and my husbands meal was so dry. We should have left when we got our menus and they were disgustingly dirty. Probably will never go back.

This is a chain restaurant that I have eaten in before & liked. This one is fair; food is okay at best and service at 2:30 pm is very slow. I would recommend Bert & Ernies instead.

Food is as expected from a place that describes itself as "Mexican with American flavor." I would describe it as Mexican Lite. The menu is pretty safe and doesn't have anything out of the ordinary. In fact, if you close your eyes while eating, you would swear you were at Applebee's or Chili's. They got me my chips and salsa after I ordered, which I thought should have been served as soon as I sat down. Their tortilla chips were fresh and instead of little triangles, theirs were large. I ordered the queso blanco---creamy white cheese melted with jalapenos, cilantro, and pico de gallo. You can have seasoned ground beef as an add-on so I tried it. The dip itself was good, but rather bland. I ended up mixing in some of the salsa to give it a little more kick. I liked how you can "customize" your fajitas so I ended up trying the steak. You had your choice of grilled veges ranging from plain onion/bell pepper combo to fiery red jalapenos. Three dipping sauces were available and I had the sweet honey-chipotle. I don't know why I thought their tequila selection would be any better, but they had the standard Jose Cuervo and its clones. Bottom line, OK food if you want something tastier than Taco Bell but not quite ready for a real, authentic Mexican.

Very friend staff. We tried chicken Fajitas and a few vegetarian options. Food was good. The bar is right next to sitting area so not a good place to take kids. Overall positive experience though. Location is good too right next to highway and close to the airport.

A good option for tex-mex. The options are pretty limited in Great Falls unless you want to drop into Toxic Smell or another fast food place, but I found the food to be good and I didn't have any complaints about the service.

A great option for fast, tasty Mexican food. Servers are generally pleasant, but lack professionalism.

This seems like a chain restaurant. It was more of a lounge but it did allow kids. The service was prompt and friendly. Now, to the important stuff... The nacho chips were a little greasy and the salsa was ok but not great. We ordered pico de galo but what came was an oily version of chopped tomatoes at best. It was more like brushetta but it did kind of taste like salsa. Ok, but don't order it as a side. I had the ranchiladas which were 2 onion and cheese enchiladas and carne a sada with re-fried beans. Mole sauce and Mexican rice all around. The carne asada was pretty good. Probably better without the sauce though. I would come back for this dish. The guacamole was just alright and the pico de galo was kind of oily. All ion all, it wasn't bad but not something I'm going to rush back for.
